Awards Days!

My boy has won the most awards this week for the school year. True to Jamaican form we have had two awards ceremonies that have been quite the productions. The first one was on Wednesday morning and the other one was Thursday night at the sixth grade graduation ceremony. Here are a list of all the awards Bubby won:

• Character Award for being Respectful
• "Leaders are Readers"
• Dress Code Award
• Bible Memorization
• 7000 Club Member
• "A" Honor Roll
• Award for being Punctual
• "A" Honor Roll Award for all three school terms
• Most Improved in Grade 1

This picture is for Uncle Howie. These two sixth grade girls read through the whole ceremony. They only put there books down when there name was called to receive an award. At the graduation ceremony, when Mr. Winkler called their names he announced that they always have a book in their hand.

7000 Club Member - for obtaining a perfect score of 100% on 70 tests/quizzes.

"A" Honor Roll for term 3.

Award for being punctual.

Most Improved in Grade 1.

Bubby received the most improved for grade one, because he had to catch up in Spanish and cursive writing. His classmates started those subjects in K-3, K-4, K-5, and he didn't. But, he worked hard and caught up to them.I am so proud of my son. I hope his hard work and good grades continue through out his school career. He was rewarded this morning with a new Ben 10 Wii game. He and Jacob are having a blast playing it. They have unlocked I don't know how many new aliens. Way to go Bubby!

Wii Love It!

Wii knew wii would but, it is better than wii thought it would be. The only problem wii have is wii don't have any additional games yet. Wii do have some missions teams coming and Todd's parents and brother are coming and could bring us a game or two. So maybe you could help us out. I know that there are a lot of you "blurkers" out there. That is, those of you who stop by and read the posts but never leave me a comment. I know, I'm a blurker too on some blogs and that's okay, but wii really need some advice here. If you would be so kind as to leave a comment about what Wii games your children like to play, or what Wii games you or your spouse like(s) to play for that matter, it would really help us. Any other advice like who has the best prices, games that are not worth the money, or if there are combo packs, etc., would be appreciated too. Also if you have had no contact with a Wii, you could tell me that too.

Todd was really excited to play the golf but Nathan begged to play the boxing. Since it was his present Todd consented to box with him. Before Todd got the hang of it, his comment was, "This doesn't do anything for me." By the look on his face it started to do something for him.

As I left in the comment section of my last post Nathan's grandmother, DeeDee, has beat us all. She has the high score of 201! Nathan usually wins all the other games but DeeDee is the best bowler. Nathan has made Miis for all of us. Even his blind grandaddy. We thought Grandaddy might be able to fish but the "bite" wasn't quite strong enough for him. He is content being one of the baseball players and enjoys Nathan letting him know when his Mii gets a homerun or catches a fly ball for an out.

A Pre-Birthday Birthday Party

We have had such a good time with my family here. When they come to visit, it seems like time flies. My brother came in last Wednesday and left yesterday morning. My parents have been here since May 19th and leave Friday. Since Nathan is the center of their universe and they won't be here on his birthday next month, we decided to give him an early birthday party on Thursday. They brought him presents both for the party and for us to give him in July.

That morning as I was driving Nathan to school I asked him what he wanted for his birthday supper. The menu he chose was grilled pork chops, garlic mashed potatoes, salad with the special dressing his DeeDee makes and no vegetable. I told him the adults would want a vegetable but that since it was his party he didn't have to eat any. He also said that he wanted a store bought birthday cake. I did convince him to have brownies with ice cream and whipped topping and that we would get him a cake in July to take to school with his classmates. He agreed to that.

He chose the number "7" candle instead of seven individual candles to blow out. That surprised me. He thought he wanted to light it with the lighter but then decided against it, afraid he might burn his thumb.

You know this was fun!

I was surprised that we made it through supper without him asking where his presents were. I hid them in the cabinet because I knew that if they were out we wouldn't be able to eat supper first. He was a good sport through dinner but when the last bite was taken he wanted to know where his presents were and went to hunting. It didn't take long before he found them.

Grammy and Pappy, who are coming to visit soon, sent him some race cars.

You know kids say the funniest things that make no sense to us but to them as kids, make perfect sense. When he laid on the box he said, "Can I take a nap with you?" That was his way of expressing his excitement.

He was very grateful and took time to go around the table thanking everyone. Even Mom.
